The International Rwanda Youth for Development - IRYD (‘I Ride’) is an independent platform engaging young Rwandan-Canadians and their friends from other communities on socio-economic issues affecting them in Canada and abroad. Based in Montreal (QC), with chapters in Edmonton (AB), Kigali (Rwanda) and with a global following, IRYD acts a connector for Rwandan youth in Canada, their friends and leaders to discuss a variety of topics ranging from business, to diversity and inclusion for new Canadians.
The organization aims to reach over 10,000 young people by 2020 to inspire them to start businesses as well as curate events that contribute to understanding, diversity and inclusion. To this end, IRYD has in the past successfully collaborated with the Government of Rwanda, the Government of Canada, the City of Montreal and private sector partners to host business conventions, diversity and inclusion events as well as volunteer workshops in Montreal, Edmonton and Kigali.
IRYD was founded by Moses Gashirabake and Jaures Habineza in 2015 and is formally registered as a non-profit organization in the province of Quebec, Canada.
