IRYD Co-President Jaures Habineza Launches 100% Innovative Made in Rwanda Online e-Commerce Website

Jaures Habineza, IRYD Co-President and CEO of Made in Rwanda Online announced the official launch of an international e-commerce platform to sell Rwandan-made products and services. The website found at is also 100% made in Rwanda by a dynamic group of young Rwandan programmers. The new website is expected ”to serve as an online Rwandan and international marketplace” that will connect sellers, manufactures and consumers in Rwanda and around the globe.

”Beyond promoting and selling made in Rwanda products, the web platform is a hub for innovation, creation and employment for Rwandan youth,” Moses Gashirabake, Co-President of IRYD said following the launch. ”We shall do everything to support Jaures’ initiatives as they are in line with the many reasons he and I co-founded IRYD; to stimulate the creation of innovative small and medium-sized enterprises among Rwandan youth at home and abroad,” Moses added.

Made in Rwanda Online is a fully interactive space and gives better access to many categories of products and promotions. Jaures stated that ”current and prospective clients will find useful information about Rwandan-made products and services and recent products on the homepage.” Among many features, ”the site contains integrated social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, and Google plus to foster improved communication with our clients” Jaures added. Made in Rwanda Online will constantly update content with more products helpful information, articles, blogs, newsletters, company announcements and client successes in the testimonials section and the Made in Rwanda Online Magazine.

IRYD Represented at the 2017 Canada-Africa Chamber of Business Africa Day Networking Reception in Ottawa

The International Rwanda Youth for Development (IRYD) was represented at the 2017 Africa Day Netorking Reception in Ottawa on Tuesday 23 May 2017.  The reception was hosted by the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business in partnership with the international business law firm of Gowling WLG in Ottawa. Representing IRYD were co-presidents Moses Gashirabake and Jaures Habineza. The aim of the reception was to celebrate the Annual Africa Day as well as connect Canadian and African businesses in various sectors of the economy.

The cocktail reception event was scheduled to start at 5:30 pm and end at 7:30 pm but participants stayed past 8pm. Speakers included representatives of the Canadian government and international business leaders.  Speakers who took the podium included Ambassadors of various African countries, Hon. Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull—Aylmer (Quebec) and Executive Director of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association. Bruce Shapiro, President of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business also welcomed new members of the Chamber and promised to continue working to bring innovative events to members and friends of the Chamber.

Other partners and sponsors of the event included Ethiopian Airlines, Ausenco, BmDodo Strategic Design, Cidel, DaMina Advisors, Export Development Canada, Goodman’s LLP, Gowling WLG, HATCH, Mine Africa, The Republic of Namibia, PDAC, Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, South African Airways, SGS, Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture and many others. Business leaders and business lawyers from Canada and African countries such as Rwanda were also represented.

About the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business 

The Canada-Africa Chamber of business is is not-for-profit, apolitical organisation funded entirely by its membership and activities. Chamber members and guest speakers represent a who’s who of Canadian companies invested in, or doing business with Africa. The Chamber’s objectives aligns with those of  IRYD in that it exisits to accelerate trade, business and investment between Canada and Africa through “world-class networking and information sharing opportunities.” The chamber was founded in 1994 following South Africa’s first democratic elections.

IRYD Attends the 11th Shelter Them Charity Gala in Toronto

On Saturday 6 May 2017, the International Rwanda Youth for Development (IRYD) attended the 11th Shelter Them Gala in Toronto, Canada. The Gala is an annual fundraiser event hosted by Shelter Them – Batarure, a Christian charitable national NGO dedicated to helping orphans and vulnerable children in Rwanda. Shelter Them assists by providing the basics of life such as nutritious food, shelter, education, healthcare and emotional support. This is all done to give tools that will enable children to play a part in Rwanda’s bright future. 

The event was attended by over 300 people who came from Toronto, Hamilton, St. John’s, Québec City, Ottawa and other Canadian cities as well as from the United States of America. IRYD was represented by its Co-Presidents Jaurès Habineza and Moses Gashirabake as well as Doriane Kundwa, Vice President and Director of Public Relations. Tanya Michelle Contente, a friend of IRYD from the United Nations Association of Canada also joined the Gala from Montreal.
